Love is patient, kind and putting others before yourself. Being unselfish. Its the warm, deep and fuzzy feeling you feel inside when you are with the people who you love. Love is a choice, and puts aside your own needs & desires.

Love is like the sea. The farther you go from the sea-shore the deeper it gets and conditions change.

The superficial meaning of LOVE or the common sense is "friendliness". For example: " Love thy neighbour" - Be friendly to your fellow humans or animals even. Be kind and considerate. Have some sympathy. Respect the rights of others. Be appreciative. Be thankful. Be grateful.

But when it comes to Motherly love, brotherly love etc. it gets more deeper. There is more to than just being friendly. There is fondness, affection, caring, giving but not expecting back. Patience and sacrifice.

When it comes to Sexual Love some of the above plus sex. Sexual love does not mean sex for fun. Sexual love is sex between two lovers. For example: Husband and wife. Sex between two lovers is wanting to transmit the electricity of love to the other person to complete the circuit. Words cannot describe the feeling of love. Hence, bodily contact is very important and essential to convey the meaning of LOVE.

If you ask a boy with a pet dog, " Do you love your dog?" He will say, "Yes".
If you ask a Mother," Do you love your son?" She will say, "Yes".
If you ask a husband " Do you love your wife? He will say, "Yes".

But did they all mean the same thing.? So, the true meaning of LOVE changes with the conditions.

When two rational persons like each other so much, that they decide to merge into one single being. I think that should cover it pretty well :D

Love is not the feeling you get when you first meet someone. That is just the chemicals (hormones) in your brain that are tricking you into copulation. That exciting feeling is called "The Honeymoon Phase" and it is always short lived and always comes to pass. After that is when you pick up the pieces of love. Love has to grow and cannot simply exist out of nowhere. Love is when you put the other person before yourself and when you walk side by side with your compassion instead of in front of, or behind. Love is never physically hurting the other person no matter what. Love is kind, gentle, and patient! :)
