What is this emotion?

my parents had a fight because my father was having the "life talk" with me and my mother made a joke and my father got angry, anyhow they fought for awhile then for some unknown reason he turned to me and said some hurtful things things like there is something wrong with me and some other personal stuff that he knew would hurt me from what I have shared with him,and my heart began to beat fast and faster and I felt angry my torso was shaking like I was cold or something then I felt like crying while I lashed back at him for what he said. is that fury or just feeling hurt?

That's adrenaline in your bloodstream. You felt like you were under attack, and your body reacted with a big hit of stress hormones to get your heart beating faster and better enable you to fight back. Afterwards you may feel a little sick and/or weepy - am I right?

You might describe it as "anger", you might describe it as "pain", you might describe it as "fear" - it all boils down to the same thing. You felt an attack, and your body responded.

I can't think of the word but it feels like failure and disappointment. Hurt is what you felt then came the fury by lashing out.

OGND is right about the reaction, I bet...

Can I just say one thing? Your DAD may be a wonderful man overall, but tonight, he took out some kind of frustration or whatever on you and that was WRONG! Please do not internalize any of it or take any of it to heart! And before I come across as judgmental of your Dad, I make so many mistakes as a parent including misplacing my frustrations that I just say lots and lots of prayers about my daughters and how they grow up - I hope that God can shield them from the negative stuff that I sometimes have a tendency to show them - I tell you, I NEVER knew how hard it was to be a good parent let alone a GREAT one! I hope that you recover from this assault and maybe your Dad will even apologize. My mom recently said some really hurtful things to me (in fact, probably the MOST hurtful in my entire life and I am 43), but she also wrote a really heartfelt apology a week later - I hope you get to enjoy that feeling too - it's called relief and gratitude - at least that was what I felt!

A combination of both. You were angry at him for hurting you.

It's anger and hurt. For a father to say things out of bitterness and not have you in mind is very hurtful. He may come back and say he regrets it- I hope he does explain what happened.
