Why does there have to be a "worse?" How much pain the mother feels depends on her perception of reality.

I would say both mothers have lost a child, and yes, that is enough in itself, but the mother of the killer A) loses a child B) has to live with the fact that their child is a killer C) has to live with the guilt of what they did wrong to raise a child who could murder D) has to wonder their whole life what they could have done to prevent this from happening

It depends on who the person kills. The mother of a killer would be worst off if the crime was creepy.
The mother of the victim would be worst off it it was a gang thing.

mother of a killer... there can be nothing worse than being on an end of the guilty!

The mother of the victim. She has lost someone forever without ever having the benefit of a visit again.

The mother of a killer can always rationalize it into being caused by outside forces.

I assume being a mother/father of the victim would be the worst.

victim- because you are loosing your child if they die or get raped or if they are just never the same person.. and they had to experience the fear involved in a crime against them.. if your the mother of a killer then you know that your child is kinda strange... there are tons of signs or things that could be signs that many parents just ignore when they could have gotten their kid help for issues...

Both would suck. But then it also depends on the situation. Was it self-defense or the defense of someone else? Was it a drive-by or random act of violence? Crime of passion? Mass murder? No matter what the situation, the parents are going to feel somewhat responsible for their child's action because they were the ones who raised or didn't raise them. And losing a child is something no parent should ever have to go through. I heard even Timothy McVeigh's parents pleaded to spare his life.
