My mom told my brother and I to get in the car fairly early one Saturday morning. Where are we going, I asked. She refused to give a straight answer, just saying again we should get in the car. My brother refused to leave his cartoons for the promise of the unknown.

We ended up at Disneyland and spent the most incredible day, just she and I. That was the biggest (and best) surprise of my entire childhood.

After a little league baseball game (I was the losing pitcher) I walked my first girlfriend home and at her door we both had our first kiss; it was the sweetest kiss and made the loss seem insignificant (I still remember my heart pounding and my knees weakening); then her mother made us brownies accompanied by a glass of milk.
