Its horrible but I worry it has been used as an excuse to spark violence and has stoked sectional tensions that preexisted the rape.

It all comes down to how the people of India will react to it.
But if i was an Indian i would not be happy about this because it has become world wide news and this effects peoples view of India and Indians. So even if an Indian places low importance on woman, they may place a high importance on the honour of their Nation.Like (2)

I saw the video from the Bus cam and then I read the story -
Personally all those guys should be imprisoned for life....
The Bus driver should also get a min. of 25 years and the Bus company sued fro millions and pay for that women's mental and physical care

there will always be men who think it is okay to take what they should not... it is better to understand what a precious gift it is to receive it from a willing woman. rape is an act of dominance from those who don't understand that earning the love of a woman is the most dominant act a man can achieve. For then she is truly yours.
I feel for all victims of rapes and yes more should be done to protect them, in every country, all over the world. no excuses. no debates.
