Lack of respect, laziness, greed, expecting the government to support you, ignorance, arrogance, rebelliousness and going against God until one hits rockbottom.

Lots of things made that model unsustainable. The value of labour provided by the dad was insufficient to fund all of the consumption that the family wished to do.

A little bit of everything mentioned. It would be very difficult economically for one to work and one to stay home. And people are often judged on what they have materially. People are often thought better of the more they have. But often they really don't have anymore than someone else they are just deeper in debt. Morals have changed people do appear more angry and apathetic

It was the rapist next door that did a home invasion. The censors had to end the show rather than give a full disclosure on the ramifications of greed and the refusal to eliminate it.

People woke up to the inherent inequality of this way of life. I think there is a quality deep within our collective unconscious as human beings to realize that something is not right, even though it may be the prevailing lie of the time. Somewhere inside all of us, we knew that something was wrong, and some of us started to try and change it, while others denied or rationalized it's false validity. Gradually, the situation has been correcting itself.

I think your answer to this is great. The key word being " inequality" when did society begin to view it as unequal? Both jobs are absolutely as important as the other. Was it that one job or role was being perceived as easier? maybe

The fact that it was never real. Do a study of basic history of the that time period...that wasn't exactly a real representation of the america most people lived in.
