I think it's probably a bit of both. I'd like to think that co-operation is voluntary and therefore positive. Unfortunately, it's often a soft way of selling coercion by people who want to appear positive and non-controlling.

My first instinct is to call this term "positive," but I am not so sure anymore in this day and age.

To me? Negative. Because the word "cooperation" is often hand-in-hand with the other C-word, "compromise".

maybe compromise seems like a bad word if you dont want to cooperate. maybe. but what some people call compromise you might not

Positive. Work together toward a common goal. But you will need to compromise to complete the goal. Many of us in the working world today seem to have lost the positive attitude that cooperation requires. I think more people need to suck it up, get over our petty differences, and focus on the job itself. At my job, I work with kids. Their safety & well-being comes before my own. Co-workers' personal agendas can't confuse this issue. I try to work together with everyone for the kids' sake. I realize I can't always work with friends.

i dont think people should have to suck it up. only if they want to. i think the idea of cooperation is to convince people that it will help them as well as everyone else and then people will want to be a part of it. not very realistic i suppose.
