I've worked for the forest service maintaining hiking trails and at a state park doing general maintenance, I loved both of those jobs....was a cocktail waitress then did some bartending for awhile and hated it, lol, and managed a convenience store....that job I had a kind of love/hate relationship with. I've worked cleaning both private homes and motel rooms, the homes I enjoyed but not the motel rooms.

I've worked some fairly odd jobs in my time..

Worked in a deodorant manufacturing plant alongside these technical drafters who designed the dimensions for the plastic containers. Had to pull the schematics for this enormous capping machine and put them through these enormous industrial sized copiers, to shrink them down and make binders for easy access out of them. A week later, they had me in the actual manufacturing room, holding a cardboard box to catch the faulty deodorant case pieces as they fell off a conveyer belt. ALL DAY, doing that.

Worked once in a freezing cold warehouse that had nothing but 10 foot tall pallets that were either filled with 3-ring binders, or paper inserts for technical manuals. My boss was a burned victim who literally had his face tattooed on (lips, eyebrows, etc), and wear gloves all the time. I would spend 9 hours a day creating binders of papers. Took me 3 weeks to clear out the warehouse by myself, with only this guy as company, in the dead of winter.

Those were 2 crappy jobs that really stuck out in my mind.

Newspaper writer. Fair.
College publications. Bah.
Deli/snack shop. Boring.
Daycare center. Hated it. Had to change 22 2 year-olds twice a day.
Waitress. Kinda fun, but hard work. Sporadic earnings.
Running a deli and pool room. Pretty good but business was slow. Bad location.
Humane Society. Mostly volunteer, since they paid so little. Dirty. Sad. Sweaty. Liked the animals.
Secretary for two businesses simultaneously. Desk work. Phones. Not my thing.
Movie store...pretty cool. Found out the "Christian" manager was renting **** under the counter.
Teacher. Sometimes very good, but a lot more issues than I thought I'd have to deal with. Issues that had nothing whatsoever to do with teaching. And ridiculous requirements that didn't serve the students.
Mommy. Sometimes wonderful. Sometimes stressful and just downright hard. Along with all the other little job hats I get to wear under that title.

I've worked in a newsagent's, been a waitress, worked behind a bar, and in a few offices.
My favourite was a barmaid because it was fun and there was always someone to chat to. I hate the job I'm leaving now (call centre) because I'm treated like cr@p by the company and the people on the other end of the phone. If it wasn't part time I'd of gone mental already.

Best Answer

It is a good thing you are leaving the job.
