Many functions within large media groups have comfortable incomes associated with them. I met a guy once who did small films for Disney, often those quasi-commercials that run on their internal cable systems. He was thirty, owned two houses, one of them in Celebration, FL, which is not cheap, and did whatever he liked. All because of the fantastic money.
Course designers (who create artwork for course packages) where I work make around 80 grand a year. Concept artists for video games and movies are pretty lucrative. Graphic designer is a generic one although you can make 14 dollars an hour to 100k a year, it varies.
Or are you talking other arts? Dance? Music?
It seems like only graphic design is the only appreciated art nowadays /:
Otherwise, you either get lucky and are discovered and can sell your art for incredible prices, or you never sell.
