A good news reporter needs to be able to read the teleprompter, have some idea of what people and companies their news outlet cannot afford to fight in court, and be able to lie on the air about even egregious public health hazards.

To me a good reporter tells you the "true" facts and also does not add their own opinion. Just give me the news on what happened and let me decide what I think about it.
