    The limbic system, (if I recall correctly) it's basically what makes you feel that you're in an upright position. When you spin, you confuse it and it has to (very loosely worded) recalibrate, leaving you with a dizzy feel.

    Something to do with the inner ear - the human version of a spirit-level getting confused.
