wow. what a question. i won't say i believe in religion, because religion is man made. i believe in God. i believe in God because the the universe is a system which runs on certain specific principles. if there was no intelligence to the design there would only be randomness. the universe is highly ordered, not random. the fact that anything exists implies a Creator. call the creator God, or what you will. a strange example: some people say if you gave a million monkeys a million typewriters and a million years, they'd come up with a work of great literature. this is completely untrue. they'd come up with a million pieces of gibberish. now, a great author may be able to go through this and use only what he found on the monkeys' pages and create a work of great literature, but this would be intelligent design.
as for science and the theory of evolution, science is just the study of how things work. the very process of time passing is evolution. today is evolving from this morning's sunrise to tonight's sunset. plants evolve from seeds to saplings to full grown plants. people evolve from separate ***** and egg to the phases of pregnancy to infancy to childhood to adulthood. life on earth has evolved from the standpoint that species rise and become extinct. i definitely believe we need both science and what i'll call spirituality. religion is a business. God, or however you refer to the Creator, is inside you. i believe we all have a soul and there is more beyond this plane of existence. but i believe that science is needed for the understanding of how things work. without science, life lacks all the advances that make our lives easier. without spirituality, life lacks meaning. they don't have to contradict each other.

Through my religious beliefs I have come to the conclusion that God created Science. I think that the evolution of the world and mankind can be explained through Science, however God created the first particle, the first organism, the first atom, the first anything to make Science come into existence.

I believe in science because it has been proven. I am also a 'spritual' person, but not religious. I question things that are written in the Bible b/c science has disproven them as 'miracles'. Not to say they didn't happen, they are just exagarrated. I do think some people put too much weight on religion. I understand you must have Faith but some have it at the expense of common sense. I do believe we need a little of both. Thinking that there is a 'higher power' is comforting for most people, but at the same time we do need science and I put more trust into sciences that have been proven. But really, who's to say that "God" didn't create "evolution". IF he is the "Almight" then he could do whatever he wanted. Logically, however, I know this is highly unlikely. So again, I'm spiritual but am logical when it comes to things like the Bible. I guess we do need both...if we didn't have religion we'd have no reason for Wars! Now, what fun would that be. (hint of sarcasm there if u couldn't tell)

How can one not "believe" in "Science"? Science is essentially a way of interpreting reality in a systematic and logical way. Not "believing" in "science" is not believing in cause and effect.

Science is reproducible; any sufficiently advanced society will make the same observations and same conclusions.

Religions are not reproducible. I believe it has no place in modern society at all.

I don’t believe in religion it’s guess work and based on nothing solid what so ever .I leads to wrong conclusions and causes much suffering in the world. I do believe in science it is how we discover things about the world around us through hard work and honest research as opposed to making up stories based on vague groundless observations.

We do need science, religion we would be well rid of.

Belief in science? How can anyone [with a decent education] NOT believe in science? A person would have to be truly ignorant or insane to deny empirical evidence.
The above reasons are also responsible for my disbelief in religion, myth, superstition, or any other such irrational belief.
No, we certainly don't need religion--in fact, it does more harm than good. People have been killing each other over minor differences in a book of myths for centuries.
I'd like to live in a world based in fact, not antiquated fiction.

I personally believe the two aren't completely separate entities. To believe in religion doesn't mean to not believe in science and vice versa. There's a misperception that religion can not be explained by science or the other way around. So, yes in balance there is truth.

Hi puzzles100
This question assumes belief on my part where there is none for either Religion or Science. The correct stance is not one of belief but enquiry. The same things makes me enquire through Religion and Science because the fields are so rich. So many generations of thought and exploration. Both are available so why not explore human experience through each. I do not know if I achieve balance but I explore where I wish and so do not feel limited in any way. I suppose I do not specialize but enjoy everything from poetry to logic.
Big question!

Depends on who you ask.I am sure some religious people will say they could do without science and some scientist say we could do without religion

I believe in science...because...well..its moronic to disbelieve in something provable. But...there is that edge of science and beyond what we know that is complete mystery...this is the realm of religion and why not put myth and magic around that. It keeps the scientific seekers inspired and keeps our souls fueled.

religion & science...hmmmm lets see. Because both say that something living can come from nothing.
Both have theories which cannot be 'proven', but are widely accepted as true...and both have laws. Gee, I really wonder why people can't just accept one without being fiesty about the other.

I'm more spiritual than religious. I believe in science because it is provable and logical. My spiritual beliefs also coincide with science. I believe string theory is the answer, and with that comes my personal belief that there are physical connections of energy between beings. We're all connected, from my perspective.
And if there is a god/goddess out there, they created science. I think they would want us to try and figure out the mysteries of the universe and to constantly be curious. You don't have to be religious to be in awe of the miracles of nature.

I think "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown had it right. Sure, you know, the 'big bang' was caused by particles and chemical reactions (science)...but what created those particles and set them into motion is something beyond comprehension (spirituality). ^^

Note: I put spirituality, because there are many people who believe in a kind of 'God'-entity...without being in a religion.
Me being one of them~
