I plan on quitting smoking tomorrow. I have smoked for almost 10 years. I do not like feeling dependent on them and I am worried about my health. I have told a few people I am choosing to quit smoking and they all said they would help. I know I will get urges and I had thought about using toothpicks instead of a cigg. I just would like to know some options others have used on their own journey. I really want to succeed.

I didnt do cold turkey... I used to smoke like a chimney for 16 years (almost) and quit using patches and nicorette gum... Im just on the gum now. <br />

BUT you need to drink a lot of water... dunno why but it helps<br />
Get something to do with your hands... a tangle toy or something<br />
And suck on a mencil something like that... it DOES work<br />

Perseverance, it took me six months to quit. One failure after another but it finally stuck.

I just quit,maybe six weeks? I used a presc<x>ription ( not chantix) the other one???<br />
I had no faith it would work. A week into it you double the dose. After the first week<br />
I just quit, I wanted too. Maybe the medication, maybe not. I really don't know. I am very happy to be smoke free. Good Luck!!!

The only way that worked for me, and it did, was not to quit; just didn't smoke the one I wanted right then. After a while the put-offs added up to years of not smoking and those times when one is wanted are months apart but still put-off for a while.

I wouldn't try to stop "cold turkey." It just sets you up to fail. have you tried just smoking less?
