What music has moved you to tears?

Music is the universal subjective language. As such, it can give expression to emotions regardless of whether you speak English, Spanish, German, Russian or Hindi. There are some works which are so evocative, so emotive that I have no choice but to resonate with them, sometimes to the point of tears. I know what mine are. What are yours?

One song has moved me to tears. Its called 'The Ashokan Farewell" by Jay Ungar. It is a Celtic fiddle piece and it makes me cry like a baby its so moving.Ashokan is located in Ulster County,New York.It was used as the theme music or the PBS TV series "The Civil War"produced by Ken Burns. It was also played when they read the letter Civil War solider Sullivan Ballou wrote to his wife Sarah. He was a Major of Irish desent in the 2nd Rhode Island Volunteers. The man was killed a week later at the First Battle of Bull Run.I think he knew he would be killed and told her not to worry, she would see him again. Its so moving I get chills and start crying!

Funny I was just laughing at myself to my boss the other day, telling her when I got to work that I had been crying in my car when I heard this song by Whitesnake "Here I go again" come on the radio. I guess it just took me back to a time and triggered a memory. I cried like a baby!

I dont know where Im going
But, I sure know where Ive been
Hanging on the promises
In songs of yesterday
An Ive made up my mind,
I aint wasting no more time
But, here I go again
Here I go again

Tho I keep searching for an answer,
I never seem to find what Im looking for
Oh lord, I pray
You give me strength to carry on,
cos I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams

An here I go again on my own
Goin down the only road Ive ever known,
Like a hobo* I was born to walk alone
An Ive made up my mind
I aint wasting no more time

Im just another heart in need of rescue,
Waiting on loves sweet charity
An Im gonna hold on
For the rest of my days,
cos I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams

An here I go again on my own
Goin down the only road Ive ever known,
Like a hobo* I was born to walk alone
An Ive made up my mind
I aint wasting no more time

But, here I go again,
Here I go again,
Here I go again,
Here I go...

An Ive made up my mind,
I aint wasting no more time

An here I go again on my own
Goin down the only road Ive ever known,
Like a hobo I was born to walk alone
cos I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams

An here I go again on my own
Goin down the only road Ive ever known,
Like a hobo I was born to walk alone
An Ive made up my mind
I aint wasting no more time...

But, here I go again,
Here I go again,
Here I go again,
Here I go,
Here I go again...

good question! I like all music and it always moves me- even the lamest songs! Even sunday school songs make me bawl my eyes out- any and all music because it is all human expression expressing human experience- and we can relate to all of it!

Many, many songs by many, many artists. But Tori Amos never fails. I've cried tears of sorrow, tears of relief, tears of sympathy and tears of joy while listening to her music. Very few artists speak as directly to my soul as she does.

"River Flows In You" by Yiruma. This is a short, beautiful piano piece, which can be streamed on MySpace Music.

Very moving. Bittersweet. I get choked up, but mostly because I bring my own baggage/associations with me. It definitely stirs the emotions.
