The Univ. of California has several online options. Just as good as being on campus (almost).

Penn Foster (www.pennfoster.edu) is a good college, accredited, and a large variety of courses, as long as you're looking for diploma or associate degrees. They don't do bachelors or masters, but it's a good place to start.

DeVry University is excellent if you are looking to obtain a Bachelor Degree - if you are looking for a Masters then Keller Graduate School of Management (which is the "sister" of DeVry). These colleges are FULLY accredited with high credentials and have a very good reputation. I am a graduate of Keller myself and greatly enjoyed my education as well as learned quite a bit which has helped me in my work industry. These colleges offer both on site and online courses...you can do either or you can even do both - it is up to you! Here are the links for you:

First of all, you should be commended for your realistic view. It depends upon what degree you are wanting to work towards. For instance, if you are wanting to get into the financial services field, then many of those folks use one called Kaplan University. If you want some technical degree you should check out Kennedy-Western. Most universities offer online classes. however, many will require you to attend a percentage of on-campus classes also - which cost more. Not all of them will have that requirement though. Many universities are offering weekend only classes, with the time in class usually being about four hours a couple of times a month - but these are usually fairly pricey.

Most importantly, do the research and compare costs. Many employers do not care who the degree is from, they just want to know that you had the diligence to complete your schooling for your degree. Make it a practical degree. The old standby "Communications" degree is wearing thin with most employers. Good Luck.

The dmoz.com website provided the following list. It looks as though the 5th sites listed provides a good overview. I hope this helps.

Maybe you should look at regular colleges, but go for a correspondence option? I think they'd be more well known with employers and stuff, and certificates from them would carry more weight than one from an establishment that was defined as an "online college". Might be good? Just a suggestion. I think there's lots of options. Good luck.

McKinley College offers accredited associate degree training in nine career fields. They are big enough to offer relevant training but small enough to offer great customer service.
