Only Judaism, Christianity and Islam preach eternal damnation. None of the others do.

I can't be sure, but I believe few religions besides Christianity and Islam believe in "Hell" or any type of post-life residence with similar attributes. Yes, many religions have an /underworld/, but these are not always "hells" -- they are merely where the dead reside after... well... they've died.

Try looking into Taoism (my personal favorite), Buddhism and Hinduism for starters. :)

I guess it doesn't matter what any religion believes- it just matters if it is true or not. I can imagine it being true because I read about all kinds of people in the 1800s who were buried alive because they had a different idea of what constitutes dead back then. So imagine those people being underground alive, the earth gets hot, fires start and they are 'in hell'. Fires under the earth go on all the time(or within the earth I should say. Did you know that 'dead' is just an agreed upon notion- when the heart stops a person is dead. But are they really dead just because they can no longer communicate? Maybe they are trapped in their body.

Anyway I know you didn't ask this- I went on a bunny trail...

I'm with Luckypickle. Most religions hold us responsible for our actions, but do not condemn us forever. Eternal damnation for making mistakes is quite a medieval concept, meant to keep uneducated congregations in line through fear.

All religions teach about eternal heaven and hell. Heaven and hell are not places like the earth. He who does the Will of God, his soul enjoys immediately the heavenly bliss; he who acts against God's Will, immediately suffers hellish fire. Just look into our soul, and see whether we are in hell or in heaven.
When we don't learn the Word of God, evidently we don't know how to do the Will of God; we keep on suffering and wonder why!

Only the monotheists need a concept of hell as they set up a system of black and white. Its either this or that...my way or the highway..heaven or hell. Its a juvenile system of belief.
