have a look at the languages of love (google it). You may find that the best give is adoring words in a card, or a gift of service.....<br />
I personally don't think it is about the price of the gift that counts, it is about what you give. I prefer to give a gift that reflects my personality and values as well as theirs (such as a shirt she would like that I like too). Whatever it is I think it needs to have thought put into it.
