none that I know of...he wants to grow the size and power of the federal government, regardless of how that affects our economy,IMHO.
I really love EP and everything... but I really think you'd have better luck getting a descent answer from Reddit.
His exit will help more than anything!
None the American economy will fall off a cliff and into hyper inflation in less than ten years.
The only one that even has a chance is the military budget cutbacks, particularly if matched with spending cuts in the domestic budget. It looks as though the cuts are being done according to political influence rather than where most appropriate and accordingly will be of little benificial effect. The catch up will be very costly.
SmrtGuy, even that is disasterous becuase it is going to cost hundreds of thousands of civil service jobs as well as discharging over a hundred thousand military personnel that will add to the unemployment which has risen to 8.3% this quarter and even CNBC and the New York Times are saying beware of that number as it is not true. The unemployment is far worse since the Obama administration are not counting people who have no more unemployment benefits, formerly self employed people forced out of business and all the students coming out of college or even high school.
They aren't really gowth policies now. It would have a negligable effect. Program cuts would have to become the new policies to reign in debt and spending. Otherwise the dollar continues to devalue making the payouts for programs less effective.
The Holy Economy must grow forever. No growth - no happiness. As simple as that. Already sitting in one of the richest country of the world the thought of not getting even richer every day is really miserable and devastating. F*** health, f*** justice, f*** peace and correctness, just trickle down some wealth please.
I think if I stopped being richer for a second I'm gonna be so mad that I will vote for the richest man in the country to be president and start trickle down on me :) Cheers, mate.
Not a one....he's an idiot, surrounded by idiots, in a town full of idiots
None of them have or can or will .
I do not care if it is a Republican or a Democrat, I am just waiting for the next idiot to say, "Let them eat cake!"
Health care. Why? Because most bankruptcies in the US have come as a result of high hospital bills. ALSO, something that most Americans don't realize is that we have been competing against countries who DO provide health care to their workers, which means that their companies have an unfair competitive advantage over US companies in the world market.
ALSO, with improved and wider access to health care, American workers (because not all companies provide health care) can be more productive, have fewer sick days (including for their children), and can be less likely to spread communicable diseases because they have gone to the doctor in time, rather than waiting until they are physically unable to move and must be taken to the ER.
ALSO, as of August 1st, women who don't have health care will have access to birth control--which means fewer unplanned pregnancies, less dependency on government help because they're poor and have a baby, plus early detection of various gynecological problems that, if treated soon enough, will result in fewer deaths and less costly treatments.
ALSO, taking out Al Qaeda leaders (as they put their heads out of the rat holes) will help prevent terrorist attacks, attacks which, if conducted successfully, would create incredible hits to the economy.
Those are just a few. If you want more, I'll send them along. (My guess is that you will NOT want to hear more.)
The easiest one for people to understand is his push to restructure corporate taxes. Right now the US corporate taxes are about 35%, while most of the developed world has about 25%. Not because other countries actually have lower taxes, but because our federal tax system is corrupt. Those companies that support specific congressmen or states are provided with loopholes. That way they can stomp on the competition.
By leveling the playing field we not only encourage economic growth, but reduce corruption starting at the top in such a way that both parties will have difficulty ob<x>jecting.
Flat tax rates are a pipe dream. Obama has to work within the political realities of congress. You might as well ask if everyone deciding to just get along and love their neighbor would help.
He gave away too much, but it's still better than nothing at all. The conservatives / Republicans have had over fifty years to get something done--or even proposed--toward making health care available and affordable for everyone. Somehow, they just never managed to get around to doing it. Maybe because they got even MORE money from big insurance and the health industry than the Democrats did. Go figure....
Of course, some people like a "flat tax" because it SEEMS simple and "fair." Here's the problem: How much does a billionaire pay for a gallon of gasoline? About $3.65. How much does "Joe Sixpack" pay for a gallon of gasoline? Same price.
But that gallon takes a much bigger bite out of Joe Sixpack's wallet than it does out of Willy Tophat's wallet.
The same goes for other basic necessities, like milk, bread, electricity, water, gas/heating oil, and so on.
As a result, with a flat tax, the rich would continue to get richer, and the middle class and poor would get poorer. Besides which, the rich would not magically create jobs in the US. (We see how that worked under Prez Bush).
It is no great surprise that the top 1% keep pushing the idea of a flat tax--the last (and loudest) proponent was the son of the founder of Forbes Magazine, Malcolm Forbes. No big surprise...
Hundreds of exemptions from it so far, to donor corporations and unions, among other things.
50 years to get something done? Man, you've really been drinking the libtard koolaid. The Democrats held a majority in the house and senate nearly all the time from Johnson up to Clinton.
That arguement is economically irrational. What either class pays for anything is irrelevant. Progressive taxation is immoral socialist theft.
And don't come back with every rich person being crooked either, there are plenty of honest ones, and I'm all for burning all the corrupt ones along with the crooked bankers and politicians currently running the show as much as anyone else.
The only was a socialist society can function for any length of time is under a fiat money system whereby the politicians can promise all the leeches they'll keep them in swag. Crooked corporate folks love this because under a fiat system the money is based on debt, so they have a massive pool of "play capital" that they can pyramid at will. If you return to sound money, todays levels of corruption and waste will dry up like a freshet on Furnace Creek.
EVERY time you manage to get taxes raised the targets ALWAYS get out of it and the lower level people end up footing the bill, it's difficult to tell if progressives are really so stupid as to keep going back for that *** kicking, or if, at their upper levels, they are really evil bastards working in lockstep with corrupt money powers and politicians...
