What to do when you don't want to pursue a course further but your parents want you to & you don't want to disappoint?
My boyfriend completed his MBBS though he was more interested in engineering ,now after six years of MBBS and one year of internship he doesn't want to do dermatology which would take another 3yrs, but he doesn't want to disappoint his parents ,so much so that he wouldn't even admit to himself what he really wants & that he has a problem with his father. .what should I advice him to do ?

Is he prepared to support himself with food and lodging and all other living expenses ? If he isn't, he should complete his original goal and think about changing professions when he's self supporting. that way he'll always have the security of being able to fall back on being a dermatologist if things don't work out for him.

I listened to my parents and became a lawyer- 25 years later I hate the profession with as much bile as I did the first day- F the parents even if he has to move- Please follow your heart

He has one life, it can be long or short. You can ask for advice but you must do what only you want to do. They will love you whatever you decide in the long term.
