Was there a point to it?

My interpretation: It's about a passionate love affair which has been lost and all the mixed up feelings that this provokes... The relationship ends but he feels that it was the best thing that ever happened to him and he will not be able to recapture that again. There will be other loves but this one perfect relationship will never be comparable, so he will pretend that he is happy and settled but all the time he is thinking about this one, perfect love and he is wondering why it ended.
