There was no single moment or circumstance...just a slow chipping away, an uneasy feeling, nagging in the back of my mind...

It probably became evident sometime in my teens....although sometimes, even now....I believe I am soooo important...;-), but that is always quickly knocked out of me. lol.

A minor car accident. I used to have real road-rage - a symptom of self-importance - how DARE anyone cut me off or get in my way, I was very aggressive behind the wheel. I was involved in a collision that was not my fault, the car that crashed into me was totalled along with my own car bu luckily no serious injuries. I got out of the car and the woman who had crashed into me was hysterical with fear and apologies. I was absolutely shaking like a leaf myself. Long story short I realised I wasn't centre of the world when it came to the roads and that it's not all about me - people don't set out deliberately to make mistakes on the roads. It was a big life lesson as for me it extended beyond the roads and I think I am a lot more tolerant - and HAPPIER - as a result.

When I was singled out at a kid from bullying, I was important enough to be a door mat but not someone anyone cared about at the time to be a friend to.
