Just look at it this way....would you rather have a false positive or blood? I would take the false positive like I usually do and call it good! :)

Do you eat a lot of poppy seeds? Also - if you took one of those "cleansers" because you were nervous about passing it, well- those will give a positive reading too as most tests will read their ingredients even if you did NOT have any drugs/alcohol in your system.

Some foods will make you test positive, as well as some over the counter or prescription meds.

hmm poppy seeds can make you positive for opiates or heroin... or something like that.

If it's sports drugs, I've heard that nasel spays contain the same steroids. I have also heard that mouth sprays and washes contain alchohol and can make you fail an alcohol breath test. So I suppose there could be other medication that might show up in your urine.

Besides what have been mentioned I add quinine, found in tonic water. You'll test positive for drugs even if it wasn't a GIN and tonic you drank. Mmm.....tonic....droool
Pseudoepedrine containing cold meds - even over the counter ones- might give false positive for amphetamines since the structures for amphetamine, meth-amphetamine and ephedrine are VERY similar.

It takes a LOT of poppy seeds to get a false positive. I am a trustee of a H&W plan who oversees drug testing also. The testing agency said that you could probably not eat enough poppy seeds to read positive - it is an old tale. Some combination of cold medicines can produce a false positive though. There should be a MRO (medical review officer) for the testing agency. Get with them and let them know of everything that you have ingested.

Was it a false positive or diluted? A diluted is a failed test, the same as low temperature.

Many things. That's why they ask you to list all OTC and perscription meds you have taken in the past few weeks.

I failed one for poppy seeds and the bike messengers pot smoke I walked through on the way to the test. Re-tested and passed.
