I'd hit myself upside my head for ignoring a fact of life I learned a long time ago. Since no one is perfect, don't have unrealistic expectations. There is no such thing as a totally trustworthy person.

1- Never trust them again
2- Get revenge if possible.
3- Evaluate how naive was I. Was there a warning sign I missed? Did I overestimate this person? Am I too lonely? Do I need new friends?

Depended upon how deep and dark. If your secret was that you had badly injured or killed someone I would applaud them as being a 'good citizen'. If they betrayed a trusted secret that wasn't of that type you should re-evaluate your friendship with them and be more careful in the future with whom you share that sensitive a secret.

It's your secret not theirs, and the accuracy of that secret is of relevance to you not them. Find a way to move on from it. At the end of the day you can always deny it and you're the only one who will know the real truth.

I would be in a whole shtload of trouble! After I got myself out of said trouble, then they would be in a whole shtload of trouble....worse trouble than mine...but then again, I never tell anyone anything important, because you can't trust anyone at all.

i would feel deeply betrayed. not knowing what the secret was/is, in some cases having things come up and out sometime (and i do mean sometimes) can free the person who's carrying it - meaning you not the louse that betrayed you. i hope you are okay and can find someone trustworthly enough of your emotions and secrets.

I did that in the 10th grade. I told my best friend my darkest secret at the time and she told everyone. I learned 2 things. Never do anything that you have to lie about and don't tell anyone anything that you wouldn't want the world to know.
She hurt me badly, but I learned from it.

(eventually) i'd realise that once i told a secret, then its 'public'. as in i dont have full ownership of it any more. people are people and some folk just dont see the importance of keeping a promise. so i just let them go. i dont want to be around people who i cant trust to talk to!

I would be hurt and not consider them a friend. I just experienced this recently myself. At first I was madder than hell....then I felt hurt. Take it from one who know...the ONLY person you can trust is yourself.

You should learn from this experience that you should keep your deep, dark secrets to yourself.

If you feel that you must discuss your affairs with someone to solicit their advice, you should not expect them to keep your conversations to themselves.

Like you, perhaps they are inclined to discuss issues with their 'mentors'.

Be careful about this matter: anything known by two persons, will be known by the whole world. If it is a secret, it will become known more quickly.
