What would you do if you just went to the city for some shopping and some guy came up asking to sing you a?

I wouldnt i would walk off, i do not take kindly to harrasement. A busker however who simngs in the street and does not harrass me is more likely to receiev charity

I don't tend to support people like that. I would probably walk away even though it would appear rude. There are many panhandlers here in the states that are really just con artists -- they have homes and food that they pay for by pretending to be destitute.

In large cities, and specific suburban traffic routes, a pan handler can make between $20-50 thousand dollars a year depending upon how enterprising they are. Running a gauntlet of panhandlers in a city can be daunting at times. Some city's require a permit and license to beg, thereby recognizing it as a income generating profession.

I feel sorry for people who chose to do this, the honest ones, are outcasts not associated or advocated by any groups or churches and usually have mental disorders as well. Most others are varying degrees of predator,and can spot generous souls.

When walking to a gig one night in Chicago, a poor man saw my tux and instrument cases and figured I was well to do. He offered to sell me his Michael Jordan "Scrapbook" for $10. He actually put some time in this, cutting out newspaper photo's and articles about MJ. It was different and showed initiative. I considered giving him something, until he said he hadn't eaten in three days. His round belly and belying weight said otherwise, I patted his stomach and said, "hey buddy, it looks like you eat better than I do." the pat on the belly and hitting the nail on the head surprised him and he revealed in a blush that I had got it right. He still asked for the money, but I was a struggling musician and wouldn't be getting paid in cash that night. lol.

I have and will put money in a street musician's or performer's case or cup because they are offering entertainment without solicitation.

Buy him a McD hamberger and fries.

I never give money but I would buy him some food after we finished the song..You know I would sing along right..lol

It depends on how good his voice is and how much money is in my pocket.
