Star Trek; I know it was a sixties show but they were still showing it in the seventies.

Alien- 1979
The grungy bucket look of man in space taking his corruption and greed and other demons with him to meet the ultimate killer machine...a genre changing movie.
Think how different from Lucas and Star Wars and Bradberry's Star Trek of the period. Another interesting version of this is a contemporary movie Outlands with Sean Connery (trying to find some acting work after 007) but basically a High Noon on a bucket mining planet. Bloody and dark. No good characters, really. Just a dried up deep space sheriff with a last stand mentality and the usual corrupt corporate types.... bedoin
