What's a real good sub for a car?

Want to get the hub something he will like, and he likes really loud subs for his vehicles. I'd like to get him a good quality brand sub, i cant remember some of the ones he's mentioned (lol.. /: ) so im hoping some one on here can give me some ideas and won't break my wallet. Hoping for something thats not near a grand at retail cost lol

Check out "Memphis" and or "Memphis Bell". They used to be top of the line and the last time I checked they should run a couple of hundred bucks a piece for a 12" sub or larger.
