That's the choice I am struggling with currently. I desperately need a new car, and so want a hybrid or something in 40mpg+ range. Power is nice getting on the freeway, climbing a hill or in passing, but fuel economy is something you deal with every mile. So I favor economy at this point. I also love the new safety technology which might not be available in the hybrid models..
My Land Rover gets 15-18 mpg. Tons of power, I love it. and it's all for me. Rarely is there a passenger.
In this day in age I'm taking power

pp pulling power
Hard choice, so it's a big old pickup with a V8, and a Honda Fit. Sort of the best of two worlds.
