I have been given copious amounts of great advice, generally from my mother and Memaw (maternal grandmother), who are two of the wisest women to grace, and have graced, the planet :)

A.) "Learn from my mistakes, don't make the same ones when you could avoid them."

B.) Never take life too seriously. It is what it is, and it isn't a big deal in the long run.

** Here, though, is my Recovery Advice (what partially - next to pure desire - led to my recovery). This one is from a co-worker in a vague conversation about film) **

C.) "Watch Requiem For a Dream. Make sure you are in a good mindset when you do. You will never see anything like it again."

Addict or not. Stoned or not. Watch it. I have been a counselor and seen some stuff, and also a horror movie reviewer and editor for the SD Reader, and I have never seen a single thing that has "disturbed" me. (Disturbed is far too light of a word to describe feeling emotions that, for me individually, had never existed before sitting through this incredibly realistic movie - mind you, this is only after having turned it off twice in a panicky mindset.) I have always thought "There isn't a movie MADE too tough for me! I've seen it all, in real life and on screen!" (Cause I'm a boss, apparently ;-P)

The day I saw this film, I was out of meds, and so desperate to "escape reality" (as we tend to get when unable to obtain our drug of choice) I was considering using Methamphetamine for the first time. I have taken pills (opiates being my addiction), but had never yet taken anything via insufflation nor intravenously.

Two+ years of sobriety later, I never, never will.
