Abstinence. It's not for everybody, but it's 100% effective.

Unless you're a young Jewish girl named Mary, or Anakin Skywalker's mom. Then you're just screwed.

it honestly depends on your preference. the most popular methods is the pill. there are different brands and dosages to meet whatever needs you have. then there is the depo-provera shot that you get every 3 months its an injection of progesterone. some women hate the hassle of pills and the pain and side effects of the shot so they go with nuva ring which is a silicone ring that has progesterone in it that you insert for three weeks then you toss it for a week then use a new one the following month. i even know of a few women into iud's (paragard or mirena) because they last a long time like 5-10 years tho you kinda gotta be in a monogamous relationship coz there can be complications with it and a very slight risk of sterilization. there are also less conventional ways of going about it (homeopathic and herbal) but that is complex and without going into too much detail can be harmful or fatal if not gone about correctly. if you are in the states there are free clinics like planned parenthood that provide all of these options at low or no cost to you. for information on fertility awareness i'd recommend toni weschler's book taking charge of your fertility, if you are into natural family planning, which is also effective if you do all the leg work. i am a fan of susun weed's book wise woman for the child bearing year if you are into alternative naturopathic methods of contraception, but you gotta follow that book to the letter. if you are strapped for cash there are also a ton of resources on the internet but i find that www.sisterzeus.com has the most useful information but you are at your own risk for what information you take from it. there's also good ol abstinence or celibacy which is 100% effective if one can stay committed to the lifestyle. also things like non-vaginal sex like oral, anal, ************ are also equally effective. i know i just bombarded you with a ton of conventional and unconventional stuff but i figure hey you asked and i just happen to know so there ya go.

Used correctly, birth control pills (all types) work far better than condoms (but suck).

The Depo-shot is the best birth control for me. I cant take any birth control pills, i always have some bad reaction, a rash, heavy bleeding, a 24/6 migrane... so my doc suggested the shot and i freakin love it. I get it once every 3 months...
