Writing down your feelings is nearly always therapuetic.
Try a few things until you find the one that suits you.
You can also try the confessions page.

Well some song might actually make you sad... But music does help sometimes, just don't listen to something that makes you think of them. Yeah blogging is also good, helps when you're letting out your feelings. Poetry, hmmm maybe? Never really tried that one when feeling down. I sometimes read quotes too, quotes of wise people that actually have something to say and make sense to you. The best way is to probably get out, have some social interaction and move on...

I would say ALL of the above. Maybe pick up a paint brush and some paint...and express how you feel through shapes and colors.

Talk to a phycotherapist
They will understand you and help you realize things
you will need to greive but im afraid that everyone greives differently, just dont avoid it because it'll bite u on the *** eventually.
See a hypnothrapist and tell them how you are feeling, u'd be suprised

all of the above!! whichever one you think of first. Do you need metaphors to describe the magnitude of your pain? use poetry. Do you need to scream and cry your lungs out, and be loud, and chant rhythmically to forget? use song. Are you simply so down you have no creativity left? Just write it down freeform in a blog like you're talking to someone. You forgot art. For those times where there are just no words possible in hell to describe it, and you need to draw something that when people look at it, they just feel it like you.
