I quit my job... a job I really loved... but I loved him more, and he was my co-worker, so it was either him or me because we got into trouble, the heat was on us... so I just threw in the towel before they could throw both of us out the door.

Romantic love?? I think that I've given up a "normal" relationship for a long distance, international one. Lots of lonely nights.. and days.

Non-romantic love?? I took custody of my two younger siblings after graduation and knocked my entire life off course and I haven't been able to get off the ground since.

I had moved to Germany to start a new life near my best friend and I eventually moved back to England to be with the guy I fell for just before I moved. I look back sometimes now and wish I hadn't.

I recently rode all the way to the airport with Mr. Lilt and didn't criticize his driving even one time.

Letting the person go.. At the end it was not what she thought it would or could be. By the time she told me this it was too late for the both of us.

I gave up my thirteen year career in healthcare to try and help an elderly man (unrelated to me) who was being physically abused in a nursing home. He died prematurely and his wife decided not to press charges against the franchise out of fear even though we had proven beyond a doubt that the care he received was substandard. I was blackballed from the industry, but my conscience was clear because I tried to stop another's suffering rather than allow it to occur.

Is that love? This was a different kind of love I'd say because this was not love of family, of friends or even someone remotely like me in any way. In my opinion it was truly sacrificial because I expected no benefit in return for my assistance.

I quit a good job that I really liked and moved across country to live with his family. They turned out to be horrible people and the experience has taken a toll on my mental and physical health. Lucky for me my mom is coming to save me in 9 days! I'll be leaving this hell hole and never coming back. He says he's coming with me but I'm not too sure. Actions speak louder than words but I cannot remain her any longer or I may kill myself or someone else.
