    Empathy=you can relate because you have experience
    Sympathy=you feel for the person but you have not experienced it

    Empathy is recognising a feeling someone is going through, because you've been there yourself. Sympathy is providing comfort for someone in turmoil.

    Sympathy is when you feel sorrow for someone else's misfortune.
    Empathy is when you are able to understand and share the same feelings as the other.

    empathy is when you have walked in that persons shoes before - example when they have lost a child and you have been their as well


    sympathy is when you feel sorry for them example: a passing of a loved one

    one of them is imagining being in the other person's shoes.. the other is when you actually feel the same way..

    Simply put, empathy is when you feel what someone else is feeling, sympathy is when you feel sorry for them.

    Sympathy is feeling FOR someone.
    Empathy is feeling what someone else is feeling.

    Sympathy - you feel sorry for them & Empathy- you put yourself in their shoes and understand where they are coming from.
