    Actual hippies are attached to pacifist, socialist, environmentalist ideology. Hipsters are just a mess of styles and ideas they've ripped off to look cool.

    hippie would be applied to a certain type of person from 1965 to 1975 ONLY....any other period of time doesnt do it for me..long hair, smell, politically left, etc
