    That's a purity ring, actually. Not a promise ring.

    Promise ring = afraid of commitment. Also, it usually doesn't mean anything anyway, just used to get in the girl's pants, or to convince her to take it up the butt or something.

    Promises you never break (or SHOULD).
    Engagements are breakable anytime, anywhere.
    Both are commitments.
    Both should be withheld, if not then there is no honesty, no trust, no morality or integrity.

    a promise ring is given when you want to show you're committed to one person, yet you're too young to get engaged.

    One offers an easier way out, should you decide that you're with a complete ****-face. Less hassle in the long run.

    A promise ring is just something couples do because it makes them think they're in a way "married" and gives the illusion that they will be together forever (whether or not they do is entirely up to them) but the Engagement ring is the symbol of love that two people give to each other to show that they are ready for the commitment that is marriage, although most people end up divorcing anyway -.-;

    They sound stupid! If you want to get married, buy an engagement ring. If you don't want to get married, don't buy a stupid 'non-commitment ring' (sorry, I mean 'promise' ring).

    I 'promise' to get you that ring if we can change the subject.

    Do you want to get 'legally' stuck to each other and blow our savings on getting pried apart.
