texas' speed limit in 1966 was a totally unaccustomed number for us -- 100 or 110 (i forget, actually, what ridiculous number it was), but we both had some seasons behind us of driving race cars, so the shock didn't keep us from driving the length of the state, as was our habit elsewhere, at 5 miles over the limit (though the limit we'd encountered elsewhere had not been over 75). we later read that texas lowered the it that same year because of high traffic deaths. whew!

Probably about 115 mph. 100 is a d@mn hurry. 80 is my typical driving.

i have gone 120 in a 65 and 90 in a 50. but i would have gone higher than 120...that was just as fast as the truck would go. i was lucky i didnt die! i used to sneak my parents' truck out at night in high school!

Wowww this is an interesting question.. Speed limit here is 120.. Ofcourse no one drives at 120!! N the Max speed I drive in my coupe is 180.. Usual drives to office everyday is 140.. Agggh .. I m an insane driver n love speed!! But maximum speed I have tried in my life is 200 in a Maserati a few months back .. Which was considered a baby drive by my friends .. So I guess I have longgggg way to go!!:)
