Same as you, 14,000+. I have been all over the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.
No idea, but I assume it was when I was about 9 and we took a train across the country and went over the continental divide. I can remember a switchback going up the mountains where you could look back and down and see the end of the train heading a different direction that the front.
