There are beautiful lakes and the river very close here.
I couldn't pick just one. I can go to the beach, the mountains, the lake, the park, or New York City.
I'm about ten minutes away from the beach.

I'm in the VA Beach area and those are on the other side of the state. If you get that far I suggest visiting George Washington National Forest in WV. See that and you'll understand why John Denver wrote the song, "Almost Heaven".
Yeah, Disney spent serious money and years of effort awhile back video taping scenic places like it around the world knowing full well many of them will be gone in the near future. With green screen techniques and animation that use the footage in as many films as they want.

It is a magnificent region. And the best of it is only accessible by overnight hiking or by boat.
At my house in Japan we are very close (few mins) away from Mount Yotei. That is pretty spectacular as well.
America is a bit like Australia. A huge country with incredible natural beauty but most of it is a long way away!
