When I was almost raped.

Getting pinned on the front wheel of a road tractor and becoming half a block of bad road downright gave me the willies. It's not the dying that gets you (which I did later, by the way, though I don't remember it), it's the ALMOST dying.

It would probably be when I was driving though an unfamiliar town and got pulled over by a pair of cops who said "You're not from around here are you? We don't like your type here". Then they took me into an alley where they proceded to rough me up. I remember thinking "where will this end?" if they can get away with beating on me what's to stop them from offing me and disposing of my body so I couldn't report them? Well, finally it stopped and they dumped me into my car saying "If we catch you here again- today will seem like a picnic". Apparently long haired stoner types weren't on their favorite people list and needless to say I never revisited Palo Alto.

Someone I loved and trusted tried to have me committed on false charges because he was angry with me and knew no other way to assert control. He was caught in his lies, but it was still frightening and crushed me completely. I cannot love like that anymore.

I would have to say when my ex beat me up...I was really scared and I thought I wouldn't make it...but I did!

I was in an airplane, about to take off. It was a 767 headed for Europe from New York.

Right as the plane started wheeling away from the airport, we completely lost power -- the cabin went pitch black and the air was cut off.

Luckily, the power came back on and we lifted off without a problem. But omg I was so scared the entire time. I kept thinking we were going to lose power during take off, in the air, and during landing.

The time I had a gun pointed at my head by someone I knew and I believed he would use it.

How to pick just one!?
Well, being just seconds away from drowning in the ocean in a riptide on vacation before someone helped. I spent the next 30 minutes in reflection after experiencing the long version of 'my whole life flashed before my eyes' when I washed up on the beach.

I also had a gun pulled on me at a teenager when I was climbing through a neighbor's back yard. His mother had gotten killed in a home invasion robbery the week before, and the whole family was there mourning. And they thought I was the guy coming back. Luckily he didn't shoot!, But I walked down there later to apologize to him (I didn't know this family) and he apologized and explained what had happened and how close I'd really come.

There was also a whole ordeal at a show with a certain pack of 20 marauding skinheads picking lone victims out of the crowd and beating them to hell, an incident with a drive by (guy got killed), and a few near death moments where something horrible almost happened (electrocution, falling off a cliff, etc.).

But really, the scariest stuff all involved getting news about something terrible happening to a loved one, or being there to see it happen.

I was stalked by an acquaintance. it went on for 4 years. I had to change name, home, state, telephone numbers, friends just to get away from him. It affected my health, anxiety, heart palpitations, shortness of breath.
