In California, night time changes from 5:30PM to 4:30 PM. How is that saving daylight? Who cares if the sun comes up at 6:30AM instead of 7:30AM. Most people don't work til 8:00AM. I did construction and we weren't allowed to make any noise until 8:00. Who is the idiot that thought he was saving daylight and who was the idiot that agreed? :)

The main purpose of Daylight Saving Time is to make better use of daylight. We change our clocks during the summer months to move an hour of daylight from the morning to the evening. This year Daylight savings time ends November 6th, do you think we will gain back that hour of sleep we lost in the spring? Lol, probably not!

Something about farmers.

actually in the end you are gaining an hour of sunlight in your day usually when people are coming home from work. it doesnt really affect the morning except you do gain an hour more of sleep and an hour more of daylight. It really does help people out for the most part maybe not you but some people.

However, Wikipedia fails to mention that DST is strongly supported by the Dept of Commerce and the Dept of Energy. DST creates higher early evening sales numbers at retailers and lower early evening electricity usage among residences.

In the UK, we turn our clocks back at the week end. Trouble is, we have 7 months of summer and only 5 of winter. In fact winter time GMT, is the proper time.
