my first grade teacher told me when i said i had a tummy ache, "Yes, yes, life is a vale of tears and the only thing we can count on besides dying is never understanding why. That said, there's nothing the matter with you that a tricyclic antidepressant and a trip to the pottery barn couldn't fix."

i just wanted to go to the nurse :(

Youre nothing just like your brother and sister and Ill see you here next year!! This was two days after I almost died in a car crash and at the same time my father passed away.! It was also during finals in highschool and it was all funny in the end because I needed to pass his class to graduate but he failed me because he didnt like my brother and sister previous years. I passed all my other finals but still dropped out and got my GED the next day I went back to class and when he asked me if I looked forward to him next year in front of everyone, A dropped my GED certificate on his desk and said, "NO Im starting University in 3 weeks.. Maybe youll work for me soon haha and as I walked out of class Everyone jumped up and laughed and pointed at him! hahaha One of the best feelings in my life.. Never let anyone define you or tell you who your going to be. =) We can do and be whatever we want! xo

The meanest things concern when teachers summarily disbelieved me, like when I was 8:

There was this girl in my class, let's call her Mary, and one day I was just playing by myself at recess when Mary and her friends came along and shoved me really hard so I fell in a really big mud puddle. I was soaked pretty much head to toe and I went to go tell my teacher, which took a while because the school I went to had a large outdoor area the teachers were supposed to patrol. I told her what happened and she called me a liar. Apparently Mary had gotten there first and had accused me of kicking her and said that I had done it for no reason at all, so I was punished for something I never did and that there was no evidence of while Mary got off with nothing even though I was dripping wet.

Needless to say, this was the beginning of a very bitter feud between Mary and I as Mary seemed to have this desire to harass me at every opportunity and take advantage of the teachers' willingness to believe her at every turn. But what the teacher said really pissed me off. She said something like people who cry wolf won't be believed when something really happens. I wanted to shout at her that she had pushed me and that next time I would kick the stupid girl so that if I was going to be punished for doing something wrong at least I'd get the pleasure of having done it (particularly to such a horrid girl).

But honestly, this teacher was a bully. I was performing above grade level in math, so she wouldn't let me play the math game in class with the other students anymore - I had to sit and do nothing during this time and yet I was forced to do the math at my own grade level anyway. And I was really good at reading (I could read Harry Potter on my own), but I remember her belittling me on one specific occasion when I didn't know what a word was even though I hadn't seen it before. And whenever the older students picked on me (it was a split grade class and I was in the lower grade), she let them get away with it, assigning blame to me for whatever had happened. I remember they stole my shoes once and waited to put them back until I reported them missing; she blamed me for not looking properly, even though she herself had seen that they had not been in the cubbies before and everyone in the class knew it was this particular girl (it was the really tall, really, fat girl...I don't remember her name as this was the only year she was in my class, but I remember being terrified because she was mean and she used her size to pick on people - I think she may have failed a few grades).

I still don't know how this happened, but my senior year I found myself in yearbook class. I didn't sign up for it. Anyway to be on the yearbook staff and be in the class you had to first be hand picked by the teacher. She told me I could stay if I had some ability to follow directions.
