Hiccups are a spasm of the phrenic nerve, reset by increasing the carbon dioxide in your body. Anything that increases CO2 (breath holding, sugar, etc.) can potentially work; breath-holding usually works the fastest though :)

I get some water in a glass, and while holding my breath, drink from other side of the glass, it works for me
