    If you want the absolute fastest and best, Intel, but IMO AMD offers better value for money. Honestly, unless you're a gamer, CPU speed doesn't really matter all that much any more. And even if you *are* a gamer, it's all about the video card anyway.

    I got out of PC gaming and bought an Xbox--I'm only a casual gamer anyway, I'm not as hardcore about it as a lot of people. I'm typing this on a box with an i7 CPU but I'm using the motherboard's onboard video. :-X

    Intel, AMD is more flexible but less reliable in my experience. I've had zero problems with Intel since I've started computing.
