"Another Country" by James Baldwin, closely followed by "Delta of Venus" by Anais Nin ,which I first read at age 11, and my fantasy life was born.

Why I keep on mentioning one thousand times
the name of one book?
Because is the esence of the essence of
all the best books.
For me, the Quran, the Bible, the Iqan are
the essence of the best books.
Perhaps for other people the best books
are a number of best books among bestsellers.
Today, it seems that we have no time to read even good
books of best books.
We may have no time even to read the essence of the best
So I am selecting for myself and propose to my closest friends
the essence of the essence of the best books such as
the Most Holy Book, the Most Holy Tablet, the Words of Wisdom.
The Words of Wisdom is my favorite, because it is only two page
long and covers all the important matters relation to God and man.
There is no space here for me to include the whole book, so I am
making the introduction of only one verse:
"The source of all good is trust in God, submission unto His command, and contentment with His holy will and pleasure."
(Baha'u'llah, Tablets of Baha'u'llah, p. 153)
"Little Black Sambo". My father gave me an original copy of it,and I read it until the book almost fell apart. That's how I learned how to read at such an early age. (cringes at potential 'hate' responses)
(cringes at childhood memories of taunts made regarding book by classmates)
