I think that there will be big changes but that they will occur gradually with long lasting effects. We can't go on the way we are can we?

I think you should listen to the actual Mayan people -- who say it's all bullshit. LOL Bunch of New Agers essentially made it up and people are making money off it.

Did it occur to anyone that perhaps the Mayans all died before they finished the calendar and that's why it stops then?

Just an aside: Y2K was not crap! I was heavily involved in NASDAQ's effort to recode all of their SW to correct for the 2 digit year field. I tested all of their apps and had we not remediated them the NASDAQ market would have certainly failed resulting in millions of stock trades and billions of $ being lost. The same think would have happend to all of the financial institutions across the globe. Please do a little investigation and you will discover that Y2K was truly a disaster waiting to happen. The fact that it didn't is the result of millions of $ and many thousands of hours spent preventing it from occuring.

It's the year after 2011 and the year before 2013. So many doomsday scenarios have been put forth for so long by so many people, who remembers when "The Rapture" was supposed to happen in 1996? Then there was the Millennium, do you have any idea how many times the world was supposed to end? People translate these things, the Mayan Calender, Nostradamus' prophecies and other supposed sources as they see fit with no way to know if they're right or wrong but they declare it an absolute truth. I could declare something based on my personal translation of some text or another, that doesn't make it so. I think it's a load of bunk, just like all the other predictions of teh world's end before

Oblty God knows when the world will "end". It may be then, itt may be sooner, or it may be much later. All I know is that I wanna be as ready as possible.
