When and how did you move out on your own for the first time?

and how did you make ends meet? I'm going to be 18 next month and I am eager to get the **** out of here asap. I have a job, I'm not 100% sure what I need to move out. or how to go about doing it.

I went to college, got tired of having to move in and out of my campus apartment every year so I bought my own apartment off campus, with no roommate. The cheapest I could find that wasn't in the slums was $500 a month for 2 bedrooms. I waited tables on the weekends - Thursday and Friday night, and all day Saturday and Sunday. Made at least $240 a week, usually more, and was able to pay for bills, food, and school expenses. Granted, I didn't have to pay for my car because my dad helped me out in that area.

I also didn't have a smart phone, cable tv, or wireless internet. If I wanted to watch a movie or tv show, I downloaded it off the net and I made due with a regular phone at $45 a month.

Also, smart living. I watched how much heat and AC I used, and I kept everything unplugged because even when your electronics are off, if they're plugged in, they're using up electricity. I also bought insulation strips and insulated all my doors and windows.

And by doing that, I was still able to maintain a checking account with $5000 to $6000. So it's definitely possible to move out on your own. You just have to be responsible and willing to work and sacrifice a little.

Find a roommate or somebody who wants to rent part of their house. Keep your stuff safe, and start saving money.

I lived with my mom and she passed away when I was 19. Been on my own ever since. I am lucky to have another property from where I get rent and I'm also a photographer. I click modelling portfolios, catalogues and do photoshop work for other photographers.

I got kicked out when i was a 17 year old student, somehow i managed to get by on part time jobs whilst living with & meeting people of my own age.
I can safely say it was the greatest thing that ever happened to me! :)

I was 18, just out of high school and enlisted in the army in June of 1970. I served for three years and came home for two weeks. I guess I never really returned.
