Yes, the more you walk barefoot the thicker the skin on your sole gets. I've read stories about Sherpas in the Himalayas going barefoot so much that if the sole of their foot cracked they could just sew the crack back together without feeling it.

FINALLY!! Another kindred soul,sorry others but this is something everyone has been getting on me about since i learned to walk,i hace a tough foot too, have walked on ice in canada,mud in mississippi, just a nature child..
