I hate the word cheated because it implies that you cheated on someone when in reality the only one you cheat is yourself. I cheated once, after my husband did. Stupid, I should have left him instead of using it as a pass. And you always feel guilty. Cheating is like using drugs--it keeps you inert and not taking the action in your life to protect you--the only person that matters. Being faithful is a decision and if you can't make it have the decency to be honest. I know many people who cheat all through their marriages, etc and don't realize that it isn't the sex--it is the lie. You are depriving someone of their own right to know the truth and make a change. Thus--you assume all their responsibility. That is why you feel guilty.
