When was the last time you had no idea what to do about a situation (family, friend related)? What was it?

It's been a few years ago...when my husband physically abused me for the first time....I knew he had mental illness, so I didn't know whether to just walk away, or try to help him.....thinking that maybe it was his mental illness, that made him abuse me....

I called the police....and worked with the D.A. to have him placed in a facility that would address his mental health issues.....but, through all my counseling, I learned that mental illness doesn't cause abuse....It can make the abuser more violent....but abuse is caused by a faulty core value system......

Hindsight always being 20/20....I wish I would've just walked away then. Let this be a lesson to anyone going through it right now....I am in the midst of ending the marriage...

Well my teenage brother spends probably more time with me than anyone else, and he's going through some weird emotional stage or something, and I never know what to say to him when the conversation turns serious. He gets mad at me for random reasons, etc, etc. It's rather uncomfortable, trying not to upset him, when I sometimes feel like it's my duty or something to give him advice or whatever, and then he feels like I'm trying to parent him or something....Maybe I should let Mom be the mother and stop trying to take care of him...ugh...darn overactive maternal instincts.

Up and coming event for me. My in-laws are visiting the same hotel on the same day I lost my baby one year ago. Now my S-I-L is pregnant and I am barren. I am sad about it but realize they are all insensitive about our condition because non of them have been through such a loss. I don't know how I am going to pretend it didn't happen to me and congratulate my very self centered S-I-L so that I can keep the peace with my hubbies family.

I know what to do, but it's illegal!
