When will the madness end?

So many people are materialistic (money) orientated, where will you spot, when will some one have enough? why do people walk over the poor?

I feel exactly the same way before the recession started and the materialistic people are being brought down a peg or two, as some of them have lost their houses , jobs, cars, etc.

Its not something i am glad to see by any means, but i think people were getting too greedy and had no appreciation for the world around us.

Now it hasnt hit some people YET but there is worse to come, i feel anyways.

everton13	Posted Jul 22nd, 2009 at 12:02AM I came from a very poor backgound but I got off my butt and worked 24/7 to enable my children to have a better future than I ever did. I know what its like to be hungry. and have to wear second hand clothes and shoes that were too tight. Whatever I have its through hard work and not handouts. I am proud of my success. Why is it people are classed as greedy if they made their life better through hard work. Rated: +2Vote for this!

hungrybuddha	Posted Jul 21st, 2009 at 11:41AM jealousy basically: because society covets objects that reflect social climbing. when agriculture became more settled (causing people to be less nomadic) and more widespread you no longer had to hunt and gather. it was a big deal to have a lot of lifestock because before you had to hunt to kill an animal, with lifestock you had it right there and had to expend less energy which was appealing. over the years people kept coming up with new innovations, and soon people had to find other ways to keep up with the Jones'. trading became common and it grew and grew until here we are today, a world trying to race to have the first everything. The world will never have enough. ever. people walk on the poor because they can. keeping the poor where they are allows others to be rich, especially when the poor make the rich as rich as they are. example: slavery. jules76	Posted Jul 21st, 2009 at 12:57PM I'm with GoldenBear. Broke is not having any money. Poor is a state of mind. Not all, but a lot of "poor" people are in that situation because of their choices and decisions. If they want money, nicer things, etc. then they should make better decisions and work harder for their goal. It's not madness, it's human nature. And it will never end because there will always be someone who doesn't want to take responsibility for their own life. Rated: +1Vote for this!

People have turned thier backs on the churches and God and seek to fill thier lives with stuff and prestige. Not a sermon just fact backed up by history. No matter what society it was when the people turned to the world for thier answers they eventually destroyed themselves from within. The Roman empire is chief among them, no one conquered them they destroyed themselves by seeking material and lustful things of this world they denied themselves nothing and it destroyed them.
