When I was younger I would run away all the time, tell friends parents that my mom said it was okay if I slept over and worry my mother to death. As an adult... i ran away from growing up and moved overseas for 2 years going on 3.

After my mother died, I was 10, I had to live with my estranged dad and his abusive wife. The abuse wasn't necessarily toward me but toward 2 of her kids too. I ran. After her kids fled to their dads it was only me. All her anger was toward me. at 14 I ran a lot. I ran from family, I ran from friends. I wondered. After 16 years of failed marriage and 8 years of slowely losing my children. I feel like running. I have a great job and am financially set but I still feel like running away. I am planning my retirement even though it will be 20 plus years away.

I ran from my dysfunctional family and to this day glad I did. As an adult I use to jump in the car and drive until I wasn't angry & upset anymore. I would go about 50 miles before I'd turn around and head back. Now I don't need to anymore because my life is better ~ and so am I.

I ran away when I was 20, yeah i know its sad that i was living with my parents as a young adult, but its sort of the norm in the culture I was raised in, so i'm not ashamed :D and yes, i'm still living with them now XD circumstances were such that it felt right to return.

But running away was good for me...

When my son was first born I felt like driving away forever. But I adjusted and am glad I didn't.

I never ran away as a kid but as an adult I fantasise about it, quite literally, on an hourly basis!
